ANNAUL ELECTRONIC FILING REQUIREMENT FOR SMALL EXEMPT ORGANIZATIONS - FORM 990-N (e-Postcard)
The following information was provided by the PA STATE LIONS OFFICE:
Small tax-exempt organizations whose annual gross receipts are normally $25,000 or less may be required to electronically submit Form 990-N, also known as the e-Postcard, unless they choose to file a complete Form 990 or Form 990-EZ. If you do not file your e-Postcard on time, the IRS will send you a reminder notice but you will not be assessed a penalty for late filing the e-Postcard. However, an organization that fails to file required e-Postcards (or information returns – Forms 990 or 990-EZ) for three consecutive years will automatically lose its tax-exempt status. The revocation of the organization’s tax-exempt status will not take place until the filing due date of the third year.
Due Date of the e-Postcard
The e-Postcard is due every year by the 15th day of the 5th month after the close of your tax year. For example, if your tax year ended on December 31, the e-Postcard is due May 15 of the following year. You cannot file the e-Postcard until after your tax year ends.
You are able to access the filing site directly by typing or pasting the following address into your Internet browser: http://epostcard.form990.org. When you access the system, you will leave the IRS site and file the e-Postcard with the IRS through our trusted partner, Urban Institute. The form must be completed and filed electronically. There is no paper form.
What you will need to File an e-card
 A legal name and mailing address and any other names used,
 A Web address if one exists,
 An employer identification number (EIN),
 The organization's annual tax period,
 The name and address of a principal officer, and
 A statement confirming the organization's annual gross receipts are normally $25,000* or less.
Who Must File
Most small tax-exempt organizations with gross receipts that are normally $25,000 or less must file the e-card. Go to www.irs.gov/eo for complete details.

PA Lions Beacon Lodge Camp
“500 Club”

March 14, 2011

Dear Lions, Lioness of District 14-M:

This is the time of year that we ask for your support of the “Beacon Lodge 500 Club”. This is an opportunity for each Lion and Lioness to make a personal contribution to help with repairs and maintenance of the Beacon Lodge Camp.

The “500 Club” is based on $5.00 per year. Since it began in 1992 as the 365 Club, this fundraiser has totaled in excess of $644,505.30. The Lions and Lioness in the state of Pennsylvania continue to embrace the Lions Motto “We Serve”. We encourage all Lions and Lioness Clubs in this district to consider 100% participation in this great project.

We ask that you: 1. Make checks payable to Beacon Lodge 500 Club.
2. Send a copy of your membership roster
3. Mail checks and roster to:
PDG Jerry Eicher
3426 Country Club Road
Mt. Pleasant, PA 15666

Beginning this year, for the first time in decades, PA Beacon Lodge Camp will not receive any State Appropriations! This is a fact that all supporters of the camp must be aware. We respectfully request that all Lions and Lioness Clubs in District 14-M consider, if possible, increasing the amount of their regular yearly contribution to the Camp, to help offset the loss of state appropriations.

WE invite each of you to make Plans to visit Your Camp, on Lions Appreciation Day, July 17, 2011. Once again we thank the Lions and Lioness of District 14-M for your continued support of PA Lions Beacon Lodge Camp, which help to make it one of the Best Special Needs Camps in America.

Yours in Lionism,
Dottie
Lion, Lioness Dottie Hill, Beacon Lodge Board Member

PDG William Y. Hill, Beacon Lodge Board Member

Upon request, we will be pleased to present a Beacon Lodge Program to your Club. Many of you are familiar with this special place called Beacon Lodge Camp, but newer members also need to be informed. Please call!

Dear Lion Leader:

As we approach the 100th anniversary of our organization in 2017, Lions are looking to highlight this milestone. The Sandy Spring Lions Club in Maryland proposed a commemorative U.S. Mint silver dollar as a way to celebrate our centennial. With the sponsorship of Representative Peter Roskam of Illinois, we are one step closer to making the coin a reality after the introduction of the "Lions Clubs International Century of Service Commemorative Coin Act" or HR 2139.

Passage of the legislation depends on accruing 290 House sponsors and 67 Senate sponsors in order to send HR 2139 to the President for his signature into law. We need your help to achieve President Scruggs' goal to confirm 150 co-sponsors by international convention this July!

Take action today!

1. Call/write your U.S. Senators and Representative and ask him/her to co-sponsor HR 2139.

2. Urge Lions in your districts and clubs to call/write their U.S. Senators and Representatives to co-sponsor 2139.

3. Post www.lionsclubs.org/coin on your website and Facebook page to inform followers about this important endeavor ask them to take action.

With 375,000 Lions nationwide, we can send a message to Congress that Lions have a mighty roar and will be heard! For more information regarding this effort and to view sample phone scripts/letters, visit www.lionsclubs.org/coin today and take action!

Sincerely,

LCI Staff
